Local action. Lasting impact for pollinators and people.

Because of supporters like you, Pollinator PowerWorks has been able to turn small, local actions into real, living habitat right here in Greater Newburyport.

In 2025, we strengthened existing pollinator spaces, expanded educational outreach, added native plants, received approval for a new hive box installation at the Rail Trail garden, and reached nearly 100 students through hands-on STEM education. We also released the Pollinator Toolkit—a practical, science-based guide that helps communities and individuals create and maintain pollinator-friendly habitats using native plants and sustainable practices.

These efforts are already making a difference on the ground. But thriving habitat takes long-term care—and we need your help to keep this work growing.

From Research to Real Gardens: How the Pollinator Toolkit Works

Many people want to help pollinators—but aren't sure where to start, what to plant, or how to create habitat that lasts.

That's why we created the Pollinator Toolkit.

The Toolkit turns ecological research into clear, practical guidance that helps communities and individuals:

  • Choose native plants suited to their region
  • Understand where and why to plant
  • Plan for long-term habitat success, not just first-year growth

It's designed to support real decisions—whether someone is planting a small garden, stewarding a meadow, or planning habitat at a community scale. And because of community support, we're able to offer it as a free resource to communities near and far.

If you're curious how this works in practice, we've shared a design case study that walks through how the Toolkit was created and how it supports decision-making across different growing regions.

What's Ahead for 2026

In 2026, we're building on that momentum with ambitious plans:

  • We will seed the final section of the Colby Farm Lane meadow and closely monitor its first year of growth
  • With the help of a new intern, we will research innovative ways to manage invasive species across 13,000 square feet of meadow in various stages of establishment—while continuing proven, volunteer-supported hand pulling this spring
  • We will finalize installation of the hive box at the Rail Trail garden
  • We will participate again in the STEM Expo and Green Expo to engage students, families, and community members
  • We are exploring innovative technology to expand our Pollinator Toolkit to additional growing regions across New England and the United States

Why We're Asking for Your Support

Pollinator PowerWorks is an all-volunteer organization. We don't have paid staff or big institutional funders. What we do have is a dedicated team of community members who believe that local action creates lasting impact.

But even volunteer-run organizations have real costs:

  • Maintaining our website platform—where we host the Pollinator Toolkit, share educational resources, and connect with the community
  • Seeds and plants for spring planting—essential to expand and strengthen our meadows and gardens

Your contribution—whether it's $30, $50, $100, or any amount—directly supports planting, habitat stewardship, education, and community engagement. Every gift helps turn plans into planted meadows and learning into action.

Help Keep This Work Growing

At Pollinator PowerWorks, we believe good tools should be shared—and that thriving habitat takes long-term care.

Because of community support, we're able to steward gardens and meadows year after year, teach students and families why pollinators matter, research better ways to manage habitat sustainably, and offer the Pollinator Toolkit as a free resource.

We rely on contributions from people like you to keep this work going.

If the Pollinator Toolkit—and the habitat it supports—matters to you, we invite you to make a contribution today.
